Higher removes more noise but can add watery artifacts. Preview first, then download. Changing it re-processes from the learned noise profile.

Cleaning is done with spectral gating on your device: the tool learns your background noise, then turns down only the frequencies where the noise lives. Strongest on steady noise — hiss, hum, fans. See the honest limits below.

How it works

Three steps. Everything happens inside your browser tab — there is no server processing your audio, because there is no server involved at all.

Step 1

Drop your file

MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG — or an MP4/WebM video, whose audio track is processed. Decoded locally. Nothing is uploaded, ever.

Step 2

Noise profile learned automatically

The tool scans the first 15 seconds, finds the quietest quarter-second, and builds a per-frequency map of your background noise — hiss, hum, fan, room tone.

Step 3

Compare and export

A/B the original against the cleaned version at the same position, dial the strength up or down, then download a cleaned WAV.

Questions, answered honestly

How to remove background noise from video — and what this free tool can and cannot do.

How do I remove background noise from a video online for free?+
Drop the MP4 into the tool above. It reads the video’s audio track, automatically learns the noise profile (hiss, hum, fan noise), and removes the background noise — free, with no signup. Preview the original vs the cleaned version, tune the strength, and download a cleaned WAV of the audio. One honest note: you get cleaned audio, not a re-cut video file — pair the WAV with your video in any editor.
Can I remove noise from video online free without login?+
Yes — that is the whole point. No account, no email, no login screen. Open the page, drop a file, clean it, download it. It is free because there is no server processing your audio; your own device does the work.
What kind of noise does it remove?+
Steady background noise: hiss, hum, fan and air-conditioner noise, room tone, microphone self-noise. These are constant enough for the tool to learn as a “noise profile” and gate out. It cannot remove music, overlapping voices, or heavy reverb and echo — those change moment to moment, so no gating tool can separate them from speech. Anyone claiming otherwise is selling something.
Will it damage my voice?+
At the default 65% strength it is conservative: a soft-knee gate with smoothing, so speech onsets stay natural. Pushing the strength to maximum on a very noisy recording can add watery or metallic artifacts — that is the trade-off of every noise gate. Always A/B the original vs cleaned before downloading, and use the lowest strength that sounds clean.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?+
No. Decoding, noise-profile learning, and spectral gating all run in this tab via the Web Audio API. Your file never leaves your device, and closing the tab wipes everything.
How long does it take? What are the limits?+
Processing runs at roughly 17× realtime on a typical laptop — a 5-minute clip takes about 20 seconds. Files up to 30 minutes are accepted, but long stereo files hold hundreds of MB in memory, so a desktop with free RAM works best. Recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari are supported. Video files give you cleaned audio (WAV); re-attaching it to the video happens in your editor.

Honest limits — read before you rely on it

  • Works best on steady background noise — hiss, hum, fans, room tone. That is what the automatic noise profile learns.
  • Cannot remove music, overlapping voices, or heavy reverb. No spectral gate can separate those from speech.
  • Aggressive settings add artifacts. The strength slider trades noise removal against watery or metallic artifacts — use the lowest setting that sounds clean.
  • Quality depends on the source. A recording that is mostly noise, clipped, or heavily compressed will not become studio-clean.
  • Long files are heavy. A 30-minute stereo file needs hundreds of MB of device memory; shorter clips process in seconds.
  • Video in, audio out. You download a cleaned WAV of the audio track — re-muxing it with the video happens in your editor.
